York’s Construction Skills Partnership (CSP) is an industry-led collaboration with a shared mission to:

“Ensure York’s current and future workforce has the skills needed to deliver the pipeline of construction projects across the city, that individuals are connected into good jobs with local employers, and that York’s construction and development sector thrives in partnership with the city’s residents.”

Priorities

• Increasing the number of apprenticeships, including flexi-Job apprenticeships.
• Developing on-site training opportunities and provision
• Increasing local capacity and capability in Green Construction Skills, including, but not limited to, PAS2030 and PAS2035 requirements.
• Increasing local capacity and capability in Heritage Construction Skills.
• Maximising the impact of Employment and Skills Plans in construction projects.
• Connecting local employers with the talent they need to thrive.

Members of York’s Construction Skills Partnership commit to:

• raise the profile, promote opportunities, and celebrate the successes of the construction sector in York – to attract and retain talent of all ages.
• share relevant knowledge and information around industry skills gaps.
• embrace opportunities to shape the local education and training offer to address industry skills gaps.
• foster opportunities for York’s current and future workforce to develop the skills and experience needed for a career in construction.
• engage with supply chain around the importance of skills and training.
• identify potential sources of funding to help deliver shared priorities.
• represent the partnership, and the needs of York’s construction industry, when engaging with relevant stakeholders (local, regional, and national).
